Molds can be found almost anywhere. They can grow on most substances, providing moisture is present. Potential health affects and symptoms associated with mold exposures include allergic reactions, asthma, and other respiratory complaints. While there is no practical way to eliminate mold spores, the best way to control them is to control the moisture in the home. At Diversified home inspections, we inspect for sources of moisture that may lead to mold in the home. Some common problems that may lead to mold can be bathroom fans that do not vent to the exterior of the home, broken or detached dryer vent lines, no kitchen ventilation over the stove, roof and pipe leaks, water in the crawl space or basement, and missing vapor barriers in crawl spaces. If a potential mold growth is detected, we can collect a sample, and have it sent off to a lab for further testing if requested.
